Some other good ones that I’ve enjoyed are: Devil’s Teeth, by Susan Casey, a book about Great White Shark research off California, and Four Fish, by Paul Greenberg, which is about the future of wild caught fisheries and the role of aquaculture.   Lloyd Cassel Douglas (Aug - Febru ) born Doya C. All Fishermen Are Liars is a nonfiction book about fly fishing by John Gierach. All Fishermen Are Liars depicts Johns various adventures fly fishing around North America and his opinion on everything related to fly fishing.

The one main character, John Gierach, is a year-old fishing author who lives in Colorado/5. John Langan's THE FISHERMAN is a phenomenal story within a story. Featuring cosmic horror, quiet horror, psychological horrors and a few scenes that were just horrific in general, I find myself lacking the words this book deserves.4/5.

This book speaks for itself. Cochrane and Tolson did a great job in both educating and entertaining me with this read. If your interest includes Isle Royale National Park history or the years leading up to and the decline of fisherman on the Lake Superior island, then this is a good book to read.

But The Fishermen is also grounded in the Aristotelian concept of tragedy, which mostly goes: a good and noble-minded man shows hubris and is brought down by the gods for it. Author: Helon Habila. For John Gierach, "the master of fly-fishing" (Sacramento Bee), fishing is always the answer - even when it's not clear what the question All Fishermen Are Liars, Gierach travels around North America seeking out quintessential fishing experiences, whether it's at a busy stream or a secluded lake hidden amid snow-capped talks about the art of fly-tying and the quest for the /5().

All Fishermen Are Liars by John Gierach - This “elegiac tribute to the elusive art and ineffable pleasure of fly-fishing” (Kirkus Reviews) shows us why life’s Released on: Ap   “All Fishermen Are Liars For all good fishermen book rich in the savvy, humor, and sidelong takes on our sport that have made all of John’s books such addictive reading.

Paul Schullery. Perceptive and witty These lyrical essays explode with descriptions of beautiful places, big fish, and beautiful fish But Gierach can write about more than trout and 4/4(2).

The Fishermen is a book that deserves to be read again and again and I believe that one reading of this work does not do it justice. This is a book about family and of a family’s strengths and weaknesses combined.

It is a book that emphasises how things can be damaged from within due to outside influence/5(). In All Fishermen Are Liars, Gierach travels around North America seeking out quintessential fishing experiences, whether it's at a busy stream or a secluded lake hidden amid snow-capped mountains. He talks about the art of fly-tying and the quest for the perfect steelhead fly ("The Nuclear Option"), about fishing in the Presidential Pools.

“The Fishermen” is a biblical parable set in the s, when Nigeria was under the military dictatorship of Gen. Sani Abacha. Nine-year-old Benjamin, the narrator, is the youngest of four. That he is pretty good at both is clear to any reader of his latest book, “All Fishermen are Liars,” as from his previous works.

He dislikes know-it-alls, values the friends he meets on the Author: David Keene. The Fishermen might be bleak, but it's an excellent debut that does a very good job wrestling with some extremely difficult themes. Obioma writes with sophistication and inventiveness; he's obviously deeply in love with the English language, and it shows.

This is a dark and beautiful book by a writer with seemingly endless promise. In All Fishermen Are Liars, Gierach travels around North America seeking out quintessential fishing experiences, whether it’s at a busy stream or a secluded lake hidden amid snow-capped mountains.

He talks about the art of fly-tying and the quest for the perfect steelhead fly (“The Nuclear Option”), about fishing in the Presidential Pools /5(2). All Fishermen Are Liars covers fishing topics large and small: the art of fly-tying and the quest for the perfect steelhead fly; fishing in the Presidential Pools previously fished by the first President George Bush; and the importance of traveling with like-minded companions when caught in a soaking downpour.

All Quiet on the Western Front (German: Im Westen nichts Neues, lit. 'Nothing New In the West') is a novel by Erich Maria Remarque, a German veteran of World War book describes the German soldiers' extreme physical and mental stress during the war, and the detachment from civilian life felt by many of these soldiers upon returning home from the : Erich Maria Remarque.

The Fishermen is a very interesting book. The plot is fantastic and I loved the theme of family and brotherly bonds. The story is tragic and that is all I will say for now.
